One week from today, my kids go back to school. We all love to talk about "Fall chaos", but I am actually looking forward to Fall normal. Yes, that normal is chaotic, but that chaos has a certain rhythm to it, one that I am immensely looking forward to. Included in that rhythm is writing, something that is incredibly difficult to make happen when the kids are home.
I promised you all several weeks ago that I was ready to focus and get to work on my fourth book, and I am doing everything I can to keep that promise. Yes, some pages have been written, but A LOT of notes have been jotted down so as not to lose the story as it comes cascading out of my brain sometimes. More often than not, the moments where an entire story arc come flowing in vivid colors is when I am packing to go out of town for the weekend, shopping with the kids, or sitting at the baseball field. In those moment I'm grabbing any paper, napkin, envelope I can find, or my Samsung Note phone (love it), and writing all of it down so I don't forget any of it. It is still hard sometimes to find moments of uninterrupted keyboard time to simply pound the pages out.
In a week, all of those little scraps and files will start to take shape. All of those bits are waiting for me, and I can't wait to revisit them.
One week. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. I can see it. It's coming.
Until that day...
