This new year, I want to hear from all of you. Not through my Contact page or social media (though I love that), but I want to hear your words. Your thoughts. Your musings. Your stories.
Make the new years resolution to write.
For some of you that is the resolution to write more. You've tried once or twice, maybe even have that novel in your head you don't know how to put on paper. Resolve to sit down more often and unload some of it every day. Yes, every day. Don't worry that it sucks. The early stuff is going to- I tell people that all the time. I'm currently going through that myself working on my fourth book. I have this fantastic story, at least I think so, and translating it from my musings to written word is proving frustrating at times. My advice to you, and to myself, is to write your way through it. Just do it, and the the rest will fall into place. I went through this with all of my books, and it WILL come together. Promise.
Others of you may have always 'wanted to write that book' but have never started. It's scary, oh trust me I know. You can do this. Resolve this year to conquer that fear and tell your story. Just like those who are already writing, you may fear its going to be awful. It's okay. You can do this. All of us can't wait to read it. Some of you may not be interesting in writing the next great novel, but simply feel like you've got something to say. Say it!
Start with poetry.
Start with blogging.
Start with simply keeping a journal, and teach yourself how to put your thoughts together into grammatically correct language others can understand. Some of you may chuckle at that, but for many their thoughts are beautiful but disjointed. Bring it all together.
Carry a notebook with you if that's helpful. I love my Samsung Note 4 phone for just that reason, and once again I am not being paid to endorse them. (Although if the folks at Samsung want to chat about that, I'm open to possibilities. Just throwing that out there.) Send yourself text messages and emails. Hang an Aqua Notes pad in your shower (another product I use and love).
Jot/text/email those ideas before you lose them, and you might just be amazed at how they come together down the road.
You can always find me on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. I love hearing from you (even when its to argue with me over my Star Wars review). #LoveMyReaders
